The health and social services network complaint examination system
Any user of the health and social services network who thinks their rights have not been respected, who is not satisfied with the services they have received or who witnesses a situation of concern can report the situation or file a complaint.
The complaint examination system ensures that users' complaints are assessed and handled confidentially and independently and that users are supported throughout the procedure. The heir or legal representative of a deceased user or a person who is representing the user may also file a complaint.
Founded in 1980, Giant Steps School is a private school recognized and subsidized in the public interest by the ministère de l'Éducation (MEQ).
The school welcomes students aged 4 to 21 years old with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) into our preschool (4 & 5 years old), primary and secondary school programs. Students follow ministry curriculum according to their specific needs. Our approach is highly individualized, intensive, interdisciplinary and holistic. Educational services are offered in French and in English
Childcare services accessible
to disabled children

Measures for integration of disabled children seek to make subsidized childcare services accessible to children, regardless of their reality and their special conditions, by pursuing three objectives:
-
facilitate access for disabled children to childcare services and ensure their full participation so that they can receive the childcare services they need while being better integrated into the community.
-
help the childcare providers in the exercise of their responsibility to integrate disabled children while maintaining a quality service for all;
The CAAP
Everyone who receives care or services from Health and Social Services Network personnel and institutions has rights. If you feel that your rights have not been respected, you can express your dissatisfaction by filing a complaint.
Centres d’assistance et d’accompagnement aux plaintes (CAAPs) are regional community organizations mandated by the Minister of Health to assist and guide you through the complaint process at your request.
There is one CAAP per region in Quebec, and their services are free, professional, and confidential.
CAAP advisors are happy to welcome anyone seeking assistance and will listen attentively and with empathy in order to build trust with users,

Office des personnes handicapées du Québec
The Office performs a unique
combination of functions such as:
-
Carrying out assessments and research on the social participation of persons with disabilities in Québec, resulting in recommendations based on the analysis of reliable data;
-
Advising government, ministries, public and private bodies, and municipalities on any public initiative that may have an impact on the social participation of people with disabilities;
-
Consulting partners and collaborating with relevant organizations in seeking effective and applicable solutions to reduce barriers to the social participation of people with disabilities;
-
Providing direct services to people with disabilities, their families and loved ones.
Retraite Québec offers two financial assistance programs for handicapped children:

Supplement for Handicapped Children
Basic financial assistance for parents who must provide care for a handicapped child.
Supplement for Handicapped Children Requiring Exceptional Care
Financial assistance for parents who assume extraordinary responsibilities in administering special care or who must be constantly present with a child.
Family Support Program

This program includes various measures in the form of direct benefits, particularly to pay for respite services, childcare, occasional assistance, and support with parenting through assistance with daily activities. Support is given to families and loved ones who reside with one or more people who have a physical or intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and take care of them on a daily basis.
Jooay is a free app that helps children with disabilities and their families to locate leisure opportunities that are: close to where they are, accessible, suit their needs and abilities, match their preferences, can help them develop and participate in society. Jooay is also a community, to help parents, rehabilitation professionals, educators and community to connect, exchange, and learn from each other.
The Jooay App was developed at McGill University by Dr. Keiko Shikako-Thomas and Dr. Annette Majnemer, occupational therapists and childhood disability researchers, in close collaboration with parents, rehabilitation professionals, policymakers, youth , physical educators and community partners.
ACCESSIBLE PARKING PERMIT
Anyone with a mobility impairment – regardless of whether or not that person is a Québec resident – may obtain an accessible parking permit if they are the driver or a passenger of a vehicle.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
To be entitled to an accessible parking permit, a person must have a disability resulting in a loss of independence or risk to health and safety with respect to travelling short distances that do not require the use of a vehicle. For example, to get from a parking space to the entrance of a shopping centre.
Adapted Transit
The Ministry's mission is to ensure the mobility of people throughout Quebec, using efficient and safe transportation systems. To this end, it contributes financially and legislatively to the implementation of paratransit services and the accessibility of vehicles, in order to promote the social, professional and economic integration of people with disabilities.
