Welcome to Agape's HEY Resource Centre
Get to Know Us
Agape was established in 1976 by Rev. Father Donald O’Rourke, priest at Holy Name of Jesus Parish at the time, together with Leo and Cliffelene Young, dedicated parishioners.
Through the support of volunteers, many people became involved with pick-up, preparation and deliveries of food to needy families in Laval, participating in annual food drives.
There was even a sign at the door of the Young’s house in Chomedey, Laval that read ” Elijah House” and it soon became evident that more help was needed to back up Leo and Cliff’s great work of love…
At The Youth and Parents Agape Association, our goal is to enhance the vitality of the English-speaking people of Laval. We try to reduce inequalities in regard to indispensable things such as food, shelter, and clothing by providing them when possible. We also advocate for better access to healthcare and quality of education by participating in a wide variety of projects and partnership that promote and improve overall well-being.
Agape's HEY program was established in March of 2020. It has filled a critical need for parents who have started or are on the journey with their neurodiverse child. It was originally designed for Laval's English-speaking parents and caregivers whose child has been recently diagnosed or is awaiting diagnosis or services. It has since then expanded to include monthly play dates and a monthly support group.
With this project, our goal is to offer a variety of resources to support parents and their children, These resources can readily access both online and at our lending library. These books and games have been curated by various professionals in their fields and are offered up to the parents to be borrowed for a Three week period at no charge. Our hope is that these resources can be of service to the families along their journey.
